The life of an offer
An offer starts, goes back and forth, and ends in one of four ways. If both sides agree, the deal moves to Escrow.com.
While negotiating
- Only the side whose turn it is can accept or counter. The other side gets an email when it is their turn.
- The owner can decline at any time, and the buyer can withdraw at any time.
- An offer closes by itself if the owner’s verified claim ends, for example because the domain has a new registrant.
- An offer waits for the buyer’s confirmation when a person starts it, so nothing reaches the owner until the buyer presses the button in their email.
After you agree
An accepted offer becomes an Escrow.com transaction. WantDot never holds the money or the domain. Escrow.com does, and we email whoever acts next.
We open the Escrow.com transaction for you and email you both the link, usually within one working day. Each person sees only their own link. We show no bank details anywhere: payments happen on Escrow.com.
Paying needs a free Escrow.com account with an identity check. If the deal closes, the price and timeline may appear in WantDot’s public deal ledger without names. The owner pays WantDot’s fee from the sale. The buyer pays Escrow.com’s fee. The terms have the details.
What each side sees
Each person has one private page for the offer, reached only by their signed link. It shows the amounts, whose turn it is, any note, and the Escrow.com step. It never shows the other side’s email address.
